Bombay Taco Co.

Bandra’s character, written into the packaging.
Overview
Packaging for Bombay Taco Co. that goes beyond delivering tacos. We treated the box as part of the meal, and used language as the main ingredient: Bandra's character, written into the packaging.
Brief and challenge
Bandra is a vibrant, diverse hotspot, and a taco brand from there could easily fall back on generic Mexican cues. The packaging had to feel local and layered, with room for the mix of people and cultures that meet in the neighbourhood, and it had to carry across takeaway boxes, tape and merchandise without turning into surface decoration.
Role and deliverables
Our team designed the packaging system, the Devanagari typography and the pattern language that ties them together.

- Devanagari typography
- Pattern & tape
- Merchandise
Process
Language became the medium that connects people and culture. We drew heavy, rounded Devanagari letterforms in orange and set them against teal, then built a pattern by stacking Hindi words with Latin fragments such as Taco Prima, the way signs overlap on a busy street. Colourful illustration and a postage-stamp motif sit on kraft takeaway boxes, with a stamped wordmark panel and striped tape running across each lid.
Outcome
Boxes, tape, a printed canvas tote and the wider merchandise all draw from the same type, pattern and stamp. The result is a small kit of parts that can be recombined for new formats, and each piece still reads as Bombay Taco Co. on its own.
