Logo exploration / Monogram / Applications

Gowariker Pictures

A monogram designed for the screen.

Overview

Gowariker Pictures is a film production house, and its identity had to belong on screen. A run of explorations resolved into a G and P monogram in polished metal, lit like a title card, with the name set in clean capitals beneath and pictures spaced out in a lighter line below it.

Brief and challenge

A production mark lives in the dark before a film begins, so it had to work in light and motion as much as in print. The idea behind it was pathways, legacy and inheritance, expressed through parallel lines that also form the letters.

Role and deliverables

We handled the logo explorations, the final monogram and the light and material direction, then extended the mark into applications.

  • Logo explorations
  • Final monogram
  • Stationery & applications
  • Light & material direction

Process

A moodboard of lens flares, streaked light and brushed metal set the tone for the material. From there we explored the monogram in a range of metallic finishes, from cool chrome to amber and rose, each shown on black so we could judge how light moves along its curves. The final mark was officially selected by the studio.

Outcome

The chosen monogram carries from a gradient title card to black stationery and a film clapperboard without changing form. Light and material direction travel with it, so future title sequences and collateral can be lit the same way. The explorations remain on file as a record of the paths the studio considered.
